Ambitious Twin Track Strategy To Build Closer Uk Trade

Labourpledges to avoid unpicking Brexit

Ambitious twin-track strategy to build closer UK trade.

Labour has ruled out rejoining the EU and will instead pursue a twin tack strategy to build closer UK trade and security ties.

The party's manifesto, launched today, says Labour will "make Brexit work" by "building a stronger economy and a fairer society" outside the EU.

As part of this strategy Labour will seek to "deepen" its relationship with the EU, including by joining the EU's single market for goods and energy. Labour will also seek to "strengthen" the UK's security ties with the EU, including by working with the EU on issues such as counter-terrorism and organised crime.

Labour's manifesto also says the party will "fight for a fair deal" for workers and businesses in the UK. This will include investing in public services, such as the NHS and education, and protecting workers' rights.

Labour leader Keir Starmer said the party's manifesto "sets out a bold and ambitious plan for Britain's future." He said Labour would "make Brexit work" and "build a stronger economy and a fairer society" outside the EU.
